New York

    My name is Sean Geissler and I am a proud New Yorker. I live in Staten Island, New York where i was born and raised. Im proud of my state for many reason. The New York yankees is one reason of why im proud of my state. The Yankees were created in 1901 as a club in Baltimore, Maryland. The club was officially moved to New york in 1903 and was called the New York "Highlanders". The team name was changed to the New York Yankees in 1913. The Yankees have a long history of World Series wins of 27 which is the most won in MLB. I am a proud New Yorker because of the Empire State building. The Empire State building was constructed in 1931 and was the worlds tallest building, standing at 1,454 feet with 102 floors, up until 1972 which is when the World Trade Center(Twin Towers) were constructed and stood at 1,727 feet with 110 floors. Another reason I am a proud New Yorker is because of the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty is moment/statue that represents freedom and liberty. The left foot of the statue is lifted moving forward to show that the United States wish to be free from oppression and tyranny. The Statue of Liberty was constructed in 1886 and was built in france and given to the U.S. as a gift to mark the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. One other reason for why I am a proud New Yorker is because Staten Island, New York has the worlds largest landfill which is called Fresh Kill Landfill.
